Surfing is a big draw to the Uvita, Costa Rica area, but that is just one of many water-based activities here. Dined last evening with a local Tico couple that support themselves by fishing. It reminded Nat & I of the deeper pleasures of living in Costa Rica, that of getting to know these lovely people and to be exposed to their culture and gracious hospitality.
Isidro and Marie were the hosts and we feasted on locally caught mackerel that was bien rico!
Isidro is available for fishing and/or snorkeling tours that launch right out from Roca de Amancio, just 2 Kms south of Dominical. It's the white house with a green roof, just after Hotel Costa Paraiso.

Nauyaca waterfall and horseback riding tour is reported to be the number one tourism activity in the Dominical area. I'm not sure how those numbers could be established, but from just looking around and being here in the area for a number of years, I'd say that there's a good chance that it's true. It's certainly one of the best values in a Costa Rica adventure tour that you can get.
You begin at 8:00 a.m. and get back to the main road between 2:00 & 3:00. You're fed breakfast & lunch by the most gracious hostesses & host on the planet. You get to see a stunningly gorgeous Costa Rica waterfall. For the adventurous ones you can swim in the refreshing water at the base of the falls and dive off of the rocks at many different levels of the waterfall. Truly an experience you won't soon forget!
Surfing is a great sport that everybody wants to try. Our surf school ensures that you learn the basics of surfing on a smooth way (what’s a smooth way??). Our surf instructors will customize the classes for you, based on your capability and Costa Ballena provides an array of perfect surfing spots for the lessons.
We offer private lessons as well as group lessons for beginner and intermediate-level surfers. You can pick from one-day classes, multi-day classes or a “surfari” at many beaches within Costa Rica. You can also combine these with other adventure expeditions. DSA rents surfboards. We are so confident in our instructors, that we guarantee that anyone who joins us will learn to surf.

Tubing & floating on the Rio Baru is the perfect experience for those who like to enjoy nature mixed with adventure. The river offers an unparalleled natural beauty that any person of any age could enjoy. This is a nice activity for everyone in the group.
Each person will be in their own individual tube and we also have bigger tubes for those who feel more comfortable doing the descent with the guide. Along the river we will stop for a picnic. The section that we run has small and fun rapids; ideal for all ages.
