Tripod

The Tripod Foundation is dedicated to improving the lives of domestic animals in the Dominical, Uvita, and Ojochal areas of Costa Rica's souther Pacific zone.  Tripod is totally funded by donations, and the donations are doing a tremendous amount of good for the dogs & cats in the zone.  If you are interested in helping out, please feel free to drop us a line, we'll be back to you shortly.

Tripod Stories

We welcome any domestic animal related stories, or rescue successes that you may have encountered.

The story of Tripod has to do with a medium sized dog that was living on the streets of Uvita Costa Rica.  He was frequently commented on due to his one mangled leg, and the fact that he was totally unapproachable.  He would snap and growl at anyone that approached him.

Liz & Natalie decided to do something about this situation.  Armed with tranquilizers, they sought the dog soon-to-be-known-as Tripod, applied the tranquilizer, and took him to Fernando's, the local vet and avid supporter of The Tripod Foundation.  An amputation and a neutering later, Tripod was duley dubbed, and adopted by Liz.

Tripod is now famous.  The Tripod foundation's fliers and donation boxes can be seen all around the zone in shops and restaurants, sporting the happy and contented countenance of Tripod, one of the luckiest dog's in the world (Liz is a bit indulgent :)

Tripod's Monthly Yard Sale

On the first Saturday of every month, The Tripod Foundation hosts a community yard sale at the Uvita Farmer's Market, up on the second floor.  You'll know your there on this day because Natalie will likely be looking for you to encourage you to go on up and take a look around.

The monthly effort has been well supported by the community with contributions of household items that can be sold.  All proceeds go towards spaying, neutering, and emergency medical care for the area's street dogs & cats.

Spay & Neuter Clinic

The Tripod Foundation sponsored a spay & neuter clinic Saturday & Sunday May 23rd & 24th at Dr. Fernando Riera Silesky’s new office in Uvita.

It was a huge success. 95 dogs and cats were spay or neutered. It all starts with population control!

The biggest thanks go out to Dr. Fernando Riera and his wonderful staff for their time and the use of his new clinic for our 2 day event. Additional thanks go to Dra. Paula Espineli, Dr. Gabriel Herrera and Dr. Ahmed Laroche for coming down from San Isidro to help out.

Many thanks to Anya from La Roca, and Marsha & Isa from the soon to be open Marisa Restaurant, for feeding all our hungry volunteers. Also thanks to La Fogata & Super Rica Mexicana as well. Of course we couldn’t have done any of it without all of our amazing volunteers, of which there are too many to name here, but thank you so much guys – you were awesome!
